Before the Iron man movie even came out, I've always wanted to make an iron man figure (I'm a huge fan since I was a kid). But because I was always busy with my day jobs before, The plan was just stuck in my drawing board. Until the movie came out and hot toys made a kick ass 1/6 scale action figure of it and slapped my bank account silly. Yes, I purchased it. To cut the long story short, Iron man was alone, like Adam in his first few days on earth. Iron man needed an Eve to keep him company. I tried to make him one.
After driving a sharp tool into my fingers a couple of times, spattering some hot molten lead over my thigh, sweating like a pig while trying to pry out stuff and losing sleep for weeks, I am finally approaching the last stages of my project.
Ladies and gentle-geeks (drum roll)! May I present to you, my latest creation!
Meet WHIPLASH, played by Mickey Rourke in the upcoming IRON MAN 2 MOVIE. Took me about 2 months to put this together, yet, still a work in progress. I still need to work on the battery packs, straps, whips and the tattoos. Sorry if the face doesn't look like Mickey Rourke. It's just a head I bashed from an old Konami Metal Gear Liquid Snake. Sculpted the hair and painted it a bit and, voila!
Destroyed:
-WWE maximum aggression CM punk
-Hot toys TT hands
-Konami Metal Gear Head
-Aluminium / tin
-Electrical connectors and terminal logs.
The original plan was to make the armour based on the movie concept art. But I had some trouble finding references. So I figured, I’ll just go for the “monster garage armour”. Fortunately, the teaser photos of Iron Man 2 was all over the place, and the trailers leaked from a comic convention. Immediately, I started the project. Everyday, I couldn’t wait for my day job to end, so I could get home early and work on my project.
So there you go! I will be updating this soon for further developments. The guys from onesixthwarriors.com had some very interesting suggestions on how to make my creation look better. I think I’m going to apply some of them.
Thanks for viewing!
